Harding elected chamber chief
THE Gladstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has a new president.
Lance Harding from Westpac Bank became president at the chamber’s AGM on Monday night.
Mr Harding acknowledged and thanked the outgoing committee for their efforts in the development of the chamber over the past year.
“I am honoured to be elected president for the next 12 months and look forward to the opportunity to contribute positively to the progression of local business and enterprise in such a vibrant environment,” Mr Harding said.
“With Gladstone poised on the brink of further major industrial development across a range of diverse industry sectors from LNG to the proposed blast furnace-based steel plant and oil shale technology development facility to the plethora of residential developments under way, the chamber considers that, as the region grows, we will be entering an era of positive growth across our small business sector.”
Mr Harding said the chamber stands ready to support local business and will be implementing a range of initiatives which will raise the profile of not only the chamber, but Gladstone businesses as well.
“I know I speak on behalf of the entire management committee when I say we are looking forward to the challenges the next 12 months will bring and we will be working tirelessly to promote and expand the scope and capacity of the GCCI to assist our members.”
The committee consists of president Lance Harding, vice-president Rick Hansen, secretary Kim Williams and and treasurer Julie Robinson.
