Hancock triple worth waiting for against Grubs
BRENDAN Hancock had to wait over 50 minutes to score his first goal against Bluebirds Saturday night, but less than 20 minutes later he had three.
After Clinton constantly threatened in the first half, Hancock thought he had a chance at grabbing at goal at any stage.
Sam Roberts nailed the first of seven late in the first period, and Hancock reaped the benefits of a good Clinton performance at the beginning of the second half.
"They were good team goals, good lead up play and then we have been working on finished at training," Hancock said.
It was the fourth straight week Hancock had scored for Clinton, but his first hat-trick of the year.
He accomplished the feat after Clinton fans watched Ben Williams do the same in the Premier League Reserves.
What makes it even bigger for Hancock is the match.
"That game was first against second, we came out in the second half and played quicker," he said.
But next week offers an even bigger challenge for Clinton, reigning premiers Frenchville waiting for the Gladstone side.
The match is in Rockhampton, which makes the task even harder.
Frenchville have also been on a good run with the Football Federation Cup, so Hancock said Clinton really have something to prove on the road trip.
"Hopefully they take us a bit lightly," he said.
"It would be good to take the points."
