Hallucinating driver: There's someone on my roof

HALLUCINATING while speeding along the Warrego Hwy towards Roma was a recipe for disaster.

Police were shocked to receive multiple calls last Wednesday night from both the offender and concerned truck drivers who had encountered the 29-year-old man's antics.

The offender called police and said he was speeding because someone was on top of his roof and motorbike riders were trying to jump into his car.

Roma police officers intercepted the man on the outskirts of Roma and found restricted prescription drugs in his car.

He was charged and then taken to Roma Hospital and drug tested where he admitted to officers he had smoked a pipe earlier in the day but what not sure what was in it.

Roma police Senior Sergeant Barry Winter said it was a major concern to have people hallucinating on Maranoa roads.

"Don't be frightened to call police if you see someone driving dangerously," Snr Sgt Winter said.

"Especially if it means getting these sort of people off the roads and from endangering people's lives."
