Gyms to pump up stocks

GYMS across Gladstone will be seeing staff and members running off the treadmills and into their local Blood Donor Centre to save lives over the next three months.

The Gym Challenge, put out by the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, encourages staff and members of gyms across the State to donate blood not only to support their community, but also in hope of their gym taking out this year's title.

The challenge is on until November 30 with six gyms in the Gladstone area already signed up, with a list available at the Gladstone Blood Donor Centre, at the Gladstone Hospital.

Figures Health and Fitness spokeswoman Diana Petersen said that giving blood was a positive way for people to contribute to their community.

“I am encouraging all staff and members of Figures to support this challenge and their community by giving blood,” she said.

To give blood or for more information call 131 495 or visit www.donateblood.com.au.
