Gympie woman, 55, killed in motorcycle crash

A 55-year-old woman riding a motorcycle has been killed after her bike left the road near Gympie, crashing into a tree.

Police believe the woman crashed the bike at 11.40am on Sunday.

She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition but did not survive her injuries.

Queensland's Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating.

The death comes less than a month after another Gympie women was killed in a freak accident at Pomona on the northern end of the Sunshine Coast.
