Gymnasts take time out to clean facility

GLADSTONE Gymnastics hold a working bee every year.

This year the event was held on October 6.

The working bee is a fun way for gymnasts and parents alike to get in and scrub all the equipment and clean out the foam pit.

The foam pit is 2m deep and full of foam cubes.

Club coach David Capill was impressed with the turnout of volunteers this year.

"We got the cleaning of the pit part done in record time this year, it took just two hours," he said.

The pit was totally emptied and the trampoline at the bottom was vacuumed and scrubbed down.

Any foam that looked a bit shabby was thrown away and the pit was refilled with thousands and thousands of foam cubes.

The day wasn't all hard work.

After the pit clean some of the older gymnasts had a sleep over in the gym with plenty of games, movies and pizza involved.
