Guides bring sweet song to the elderly

BINDAREE Aged Care Facility residents were treated this week to their own Christmas carols.

Members of the Iluka Girl Guides from Tannum Sands presented their carols concert and also gave each resident a small potpourri bag during their visit.

For the guides, the Bindaree concert is an annual event, and one they look forward to during the fourth term, Jo Burns said.

The residents enjoyed the performance and sang along with the popular carols.

The unit , which meets each week, currently caters for 35 girls.

Each term the unit has a focus unit which works towards a badge.

In Term 4 the girls have been focusing on eyes and observation skills.

The project included a visit from a Tannum Sands Police representative who explained the observation skills required for police personnel to the guides.

Some of the girls acted out a crime scene, while others used the exercise to test their observation skills.
