GSHS shows pride in NAPLAN, audit results at ceremony
DEPUTY Principal Dave Romagnolo was filled with pride at the achievements of staff and students alike at the Gladstone State High School Citizenship Day ceremony.
"It's wonderful, there's so many great things that our students do here and today (Tuesday) is just a small sample of what's been going on," Mr Romagnolo said.
Teachers and students as well as parents and helpers were recognised for their priceless contributions to the school.
Celebrations followed encouraging NAPLAN test results this week, and positive feedback from a State Government discipline audit conducted at the school.
"We've had some wonderful news in the last week," Mr Romagnolo said.
"Our NAPLAN results showed some good improvement in a number of areas and we also got some outstanding results from the recent discipline audit."
Mr Romagnolo said the credit for the improved academic results was down to a lot of hard work from junior secondary teachers, as well as added commitment from students to their learning.
He said the discipline auditor had praised the school on its connections with local agencies like youth mental health and the PCYC, as she observed they were not simply letting badly behaved students "slip through the cracks".
