Great waves worth loss: surfers
AGNES Water surfer Jeff Hill lost his wallet in a foreign city, got a severe case of sunburn, broke his favourite surfboard and cut his back to ribbons on an almost dry reef, but he said the waves were worth it.
A group of four diehard water men from The Discovery Coast are just back from scoring almost perfect waves in the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia. And all have the scars to prove it.
“We had a pretty long trip getting there and then I lost my wallet in Padang (Sumatra) before another two-and-a-half-hour boat trip to the island,'' Jeff said.
“The waves were good and I got a bit excited and forgot about sunscreen and got burnt like a lobster – and then I broke my board.
“But mate, it was worth it, the waves were awesome and we had such a good time, just 10 days of surfing, eating and sleeping.''
