Crews on site at grass fire in Tannum Sands

EMERGENCY services are out in force at a three hectare grassfire in Tannum Sands.

The grass fire near Creeks Road broke out around 5pm, with nearby residents and occupants at the Discovery Holiday Park alerted to the fire.

Eight fire crews are on scene at Creeks Rd, Tannum Sands, conducting a massive 50 hectare back burning operation to keep the blaze under control.

Police were also in attendance for traffic control.

No life or property is under threat.

A large smoke haze may affect the Tannum Sands area for the duration of the burn, and residents are advised to close doors and windows and keep medication on hand if suffering from a respiratory illness.

If residents feel their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
