Wind change reduces threat of fire to homes

UPDATE 4.10pm: A wind change has saved homes from the threat of fire on Red Rover Rd.

 At 3.30pm the fire flared back up again and two fire crews remained at the scene. 

The fire's size was about two hectares. 

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said there had been a wind change in their favour and the fire was turning away from homes and buildings. 

12.45PM: Gladstone fire crews are attending a fire on Red Rover Rd behind J Hickey Dr.

A call was made about the fire at midday. Two crews were at the scene and now one remains.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the fire size was 150m by 150m and it was about 100m from homes.

Residents are advised to close windows and doors where possible, and those with respiratory illness are advised to keep medication close by.
