Firefighters battle to contain grass fire near Kingaroy

THE fire spread to about 500 ha in total.

THE fire is still burning within containment lines.
Three brigades are monitoring it throughout the day.
There is still some smoke in the area.
BRIGADES have the fire contained and under control.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said the fire had been water bombed earlier in the day and crews where reevaluating whether more water bombs were needed.
There are still 20 brigades fighting the fire.
THE grass fire is between White Rock Rd and Bellbird Rd.
Flames are reaching four to five meters high.
At this stage no one is being evacuated and no structures are under threat.
THE grass fire in Hodgleigh has stretched out across 70ha in the windy conditions as 20 rural and urban fire brigades attempt to contain it.
There has been no damage to property just vegetation.
Kingaroy Acting Station Officer Andrew Neil said he does not know when the fire will be contained yet.
"The wind is not helping out," he said.
The fire is heading east with the wind blowing NW.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services have been called out to a large grass fire burning near Bellbird and White Rock Rd in Hodgleigh.
Crews are conducting back burning operations to contain the fire which started at about 9am.
A large smoke haze is affecting nearby residential properties which have been advised to close doors and windows, and keep medication close at hand for those suffering from respiratory illnesses.
Smoke may be visible from the D'Aguilar Hwy by motorists, so drivers are reminded to drive to conditions and be mindful of emergency services at the scene.
