Bizarre chocolate sausage is a hit with coast snag fans

CHOCOLATE lovers, at last your life is complete.

You can now buy sausages that have chocolate as a key ingredient.

Gourmet sausages that include chocolate, walnuts and fennel as ingredients have been created by the team at Cotton Tree Meats, and the bizarre combination has turned out to be a real customer favourite.

"Everyone likes sausages, and everyone likes chocolate, so you put them together and you can't go wrong," butchery owner Luke Dunn said with a laugh.

Mr Dunn said the unique flavour combination was suggested by one of his staff around Christmas time. With a little tweaking, they have settled on a very popular formula.

"We're always just playing with ingredients and new flavours, and it just worked well," he said.

"It's nice and sweet with the chocolate and the walnuts give it a bit of crunch. Once people taste it, they really enjoy it but obviously because of the different ingredients it has, people can be a bit stand-offish."

Mr Dunn said the butchery sold between 15 and 20kg of the unusual sausage each week.
