Good sport helping kids

THE touching stories of Zaac Dow and Mitchell Luders inspired our latest Yaralla Sports Star to selflessly give up his prize money.

Josh Brown is donating $500 to Mitchell Luders to go towards his trip to Japan and he has convinced his club, the Muddies, to donate $500 to Zaac Dow.

His father Jeff said they nominated Josh with Zaac in mind.

"Zaac's dad is a coach at the Muddies, so we see him all the time," he said.

"But around the same time we saw the article about Mitchell in The Observer, we decided we wanted to help that little boy, too."

It's an initiative the whole family supports.

"These kids have got it really tough," Jeff said.

"We don't need the $500 so here is an opportunity to do something worthy. "Josh puts a smile on his mum's face everyday.

"If this helps put a smile on one of their mums' faces, it will be unbelievable."

The Brown family said they hoped the donation would inspire others in the Gladstone community to do the same.

"There are so many kids in this town that need our help," Jeff said.
