Golfer killed by crocodile in Kruger National Park

A MAN has been killed by a crocodile in Kruger National Park in South Africa.   

South African National (SAN) Parks confirmed the death of 29-year-old Jacques van der Sandt who was retrieving golf balls on Wednesday from a dam called Lake Panic at the wildlife reserve when he was pulled under the water by the crocodile.   

The man was the son of a staff member of the national park.   

Rangers were alerted and after searching the dam for over two hours, spotted and put down the animal.   

According to Dr Danny Govender, SANParks' Disease Ecologist, "these animals are not in good condition as they have just come out of hibernation," he said. 

"The animal was doing what naturally comes to them; hunting for food and unfortunately a life was lost in the process".
