Gold Coast mum left with horrible scars after attack
GOLD Coast mum Ingrid Brown who was scarred for life after her face was slashed from mouth to ear in a horrific attack has spoken of the ordeal and fears she may never smile again.
The 35-year-old Coombabah mother of one and her partner Michael Liddell, 34, were allegedly assaulted by two machete-wielding men in a robbery gone wrong at their Kangaroo Ave home at the weekend.
Their four-year-old daughter was asleep upstairs.
Ms Brown's face was slashed from mouth to ear requiring major reconstructive surgery while Mr Liddell suffered a cut to his forearm.
Ms Brown who just returned home from hospital said she feared she may never smile again.
"It's awful, I just want to smile and play with my daughter," she said.
The couple now face a long road to recovery with months of plastic surgery and rehab ahead.
They revealed they haven't told their daughter Chloe about the attack.
Mr Liddell said Ingrid was lucky to be alive after she was almost struck in the neck with the machete.
"If he had gone down three inches, it would have got her neck and probably have taken her head off," he said.
"Seeing her face I thought she was going to die it was literally hanging off."
Clint Hall, 35, and Thomas Ealam, 18, were charged over the attack hours later.
They appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday morning on two counts each of acts intending to maim.
Ealam is expected to apply for bail tomorrow while Hall will face court again on September 12.
