GOLD Coast detectives have arrested a woman over the deaths of two people over a five-year period.

The woman, believed to be from Maudsland, was arrested by detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch with assistance from the Homicide Investigation Unit relating to the suspected suspicious deaths of an 18-year-old woman and 26-year-old man.

Their alleged deaths occurred between September 2012 and July last year in Maudsland.

It is understood they were the woman's son and daughter and that they both suffered from severe disabilities.

The deaths were originally treated as suicides.

Police are expected to lay charges later today.
