Councillor offers deal of a lifetime to ‘Scomo’

GOLD Coast City councillor Dawn Crichlow wants to do a deal with the Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

It is not for infrastructure funding or a change in legislation. This is a personal matter.

The cheeky councillor wants to sell him a personalised number plate depicting his nickname SCOMO and give the money to charity.

Cr Crichlow bought the plate for $2300 in August just after Mr Morrison became Prime Minister.

"When he first got in as Prime Minister he said you can still call me SCOMO. I thought that was a good idea so I went and got them," Cr Crichlow said.

"He can put it on his bus."

Cr Crichlow said she would let the PM name his price on the plates, as long as there was money left over for charity.

"I'd expect a couple of thousand for them, but that shouldn't be an issue for him."

Cr Crichlow is a noted collector, having purchased the BOROBI and GOLDOC plates in 2016.

She sold the GOLDOC plate, raising $5000 for Institute for Glycomics at Griffith University which specialises in research for vaccines and drugs.

The idea first came to Cr Crichlow after her car was featured in the Bulletin about a parking mishap and she was offered a "substantial amount" for her 'Very GC' number plates.

"A man saw the photo in the paper and said he would like to buy them," she said.

"I have kept it up ever since."
