Kind-hearted drive to deliver undies to Cambodian orphans

SHE'S an underwear collector - and it turns out Gladstone folks can't wait to hand over their smalls to Kate Reilly.

She's heading up efforts to collect new knickers for orphans in Cambodia through her "Undies Down Under" campaign.

She has been searching for a way to help about 400 orphans in Cambodia ever since she travelled to the country in April this year to meet philanthropic idol Geraldine Cox, who has helped set up three orphanages in the country.

She subsequently came up with the idea of sending underwear to the orphanages.

She put out the call around town and on social media about two weeks ago, and she has already beaten her target of 500 pairs by the end of November.

With underwear still coming in from several areas of the country, she's hoping to break the 1000-mark by the end of November.

You can send brand new children's underwear to 17 Cypress Close, or drop them into Gladstone Optical.
