Striker Ben Saul said fixing up some midfield issues were ironed out on Saturday against Meteors with a 6-1 win.

"Passing in the middle was spot on and that is what we have been working on," Saul 33 said.

He played his role to perfection with two goals and three assists in his return to the sport after several years off.

"I used to play in the Premier League for Clinton, but had a six-year hiatus from the game," Saul said.

"I also had ankle surgery and now just enjoy playing in division four and then have a few beers after the game with the boys...it's all fun."

He began at Clinton as a high school student and has come through the ranks and now others are following.

While Saul is now one of the older brigade in a competition where players are mostly on their way out, he did say Clinton has a strong junior base.

"We have got a lot of 16 and 17-year-olds coming through the ranks with players like Sam Bebendorf who didn't play today and others," Saul added.
