Gladstone youth council holds first public meeting
THE Gladstone Regional Youth Council will hold its first public meeting this month and is welcoming residents to attend.
The Youth Council was formed in May 2014 to serve as a formal advisory committee to Gladstone Regional Council providing a voice for youth issues.
There are nine members of the Youth Council aged 15 - 24. They are serving an initial one-year term and can seek re-appointment.
Gladstone region Mayor Gail Sellers said the Youth Council had provided invaluable feedback and insights into youth issues over the past nine months.
"They are our eyes and ears in the region for all youth matters. Their feedback to local government will significantly impact the way youth issues are addressed and initiatives progressed in our region," Cr Sellers said.
The Youth Council's public meeting on February 16 is an opportunity for interested residents to meet the members and get an appreciation of the group's activities. The agenda for the meeting will focus on local events and activities being planned to celebrate 2015 Youth Week in April.
