Gladstone woman, 19, takes Trainee of the Year award

KIARA Lavia won the Bob Marshman Trainee of the Year award last night in Mackay at the Central Queensland Region Queensland Training Awards.

The Bob Marshman Trainee of the Year Award is for outstanding achievement by a student who recently completed a traineeship in Queensland.

Kiara works in the technical services division within the engineering services directorate at Gladstone Regional Council.

The-19-year-old started with Gladstone Regional Council in June 2014 as a business administration trainee within the technical services division of the engineering services directorate.

After three months, she was offered a full-time contract as an administration officer within technical services.

This position was a maternity leave placement that was to commence in December 2014.

Kiara had the determination to finish her traineeship, taking just over six months to qualify and in time to commence her current administration officer position.
