Gladstone under-21 rep side completes perfect season

THE Gladstone representative under-21 team cricket has completed a perfect season after defeating Rockhampton in the 2012-13 final.

Gladstone team manager Anthony Miedecke is ecstatic with the victory.

He said it all started when Rockhampton won the toss and sent Gladstone in to bat.

Gladstone scored 9-236 off 50 overs. Captain John Rideout was a standout making 52 not out.

Hayden Warwick was also prominent for his strong performance on the field with 51 not out.

"They were the stars of the match," Miedecke said.

In reply Rockhampton was bowled out for 159 in the 37th over.

Ricky Sawyer stood out with 4 for 27 off 6.5 overs. Alex Barry also was also a key player taking 3 for 28 of 10 overs.

"Rocky is a tough competitor," Miedecke said. "But the boys played real well.

"It's a great end to the season."

The win meant the Gladstone rep under-21 side remained undefeated.
