Gladstone on tourism roadshow

The wheels are in motion for the ultimate Queensland roadshow with three tourism representatives from the Gladstone Region to board coaches on Tuesday 3 May to personally take the Nothing Beats Queensland message to southern states.

Tourism Minister Jan Jarratt announced the Queensland on Tour roadshow on 7 April as part of the joint State and Federal Governments’ $12 million tourism recovery funding package.

GAPDL Chief Executive Glenn Churchill said the two operators from Agnes Water /Seventeen Seventy and GAPDL Gladstone Region Ambassador would form part of a 200 strong cohort of tourism business bound for New South Wales and Victoria tasked with the job of spreading the message that Nothing Beats Queensland.

Katherine Mergard of 1770 LARC! Tours said, “This is a great opportunity for us to represent businesses throughout the region and reinforce that we’re ready to welcome visitors and encourage people along the way to book a Town of 1770 – Agnes Water holiday and further promote the Gladstone Region, the attractive hinterland of Banana Shire and Queensland”.

“Roadshow participants will arrive in Brisbane on Tuesday 3 May before boarding the coaches which will criss-cross New South Wales and Victoria with the message that nothing beats Queensland as Australia’s best holiday destination.

“Each day the roadshow will take the participants to meet with interstate media, potential visitors and travel agents, with the itinerary designed to drive bookings during the traditionally slower post-Easter period.”

Mr Churchill said participation in the roadshow had been thrown open to large and small tourism businesses from all sectors of the industry.

“The participants will be split into four separate groups and spend five days touring New South Wales and Victoria before re-grouping at the Caravan and Camping Show in Sydney on Saturday 7 May.”

“The roadshow is a great example of a practical initiative that will connect participants with a network of interstate trade contacts and allow them to promote the Gladstone Region and Queensland.”

The Queensland on Tour roadshow has been supported by travel and accommodation partners Qantas, Toowoomba-based Stonestreet’s Coaches and Accor Hotels.
