EIGHT-BALL: Over 200 keen pool sharks battled for Central Queensland superiority at the City v Country eight-ball titles over last weekend.

Gladstone had two associations competing at the event - Gladstone 8-Ball Association and Port City Cue Sports - with both groups performing strongly at Yaralla Sports Club.

Gladstone 8-Ball tasted success with its team of Peter Browne, D'arcy Bateman, Duane Johnson, Marty Vincent and Ronald Manns crowned C-Grade champions over Port City.

Port City played well but the Gladstone boys dug deep and prevailed to claim the title.

Gladstone's A-Grade side came runner up in its division while the women, led by Sandie Wright, came third.

"Everyone played exceptionally well and the highlight was C-Grade boys. It was a massive effort from both teams,” Wright said.

Yaralla will host further eight-ball action next month when singles and team trials for the Queensland team take place on the weekend of August 25-27.
