Gladstone police on alert with prisoners still on the run
GLADSTONE police are on high alert, with fears an escaped killer and armed robber could head for Gladstone.
Road policing units across the district are on the lookout, as officers try to find the pair who escaped from Capricornia Correctional Facility on Sunday.
Late Tuesday the pair remained at large, with reported sightings, including CCTV footage showing the pair entering IGA at Emu Park on Monday night, still unable to assist police in apprehending the escapees.
Convicted murderer Tony Dwaine Morgan and armed robber Bradley Thomas Kuhl escaped under a fence of the prison farm and so far have not been tracked down, despite investigative teams being on scene within half an hour.
Assistant Commissioner of police for Central Region Mike Condon said traffic units had been notified to remain alert, as police were unsure of what their next move might be.
"We alerted road traffic command and all police across Central region shortly after their escape," Mr Condon said.
"All police are on heightened alert in a bid to find the two escapees."
Kuhl had served two years of a six-year sentence and had been eligible for parole since May 10 last year.
Morgan had served 16 years and two months of a life sentence and had been eligible for parole since February 11, 2013, according to the Justice Department.
The Assistant Commissioner reminded people to call 000 if they sighted the men and said police were seeking the public's help to catch them.
"The two escapees will eventually have to eat," he said.
