Paedophile link to Morcombe
A LINK to Gladstone has turned up in the Daniel Morcombe investigation.
During the inquest into Daniel's disappearance at the Maroochydore Coroner's Court last week it was claimed detectives started investigating a known paedophile two days after Daniel disappeared.
The first person of interest, identified by police as P5, was placed under police surveillance.
On the fifth day of the inquest the court heard P5 was jailed for eight years for abducting and assaulting a young boy in Gladstone during the 1990s.
Police described the attack as ‘very open' and ‘opportunistic' because P5 had snatched the boy from a group.
P5 was released from jail on November 7, 2003, one month before Daniel disappeared. P5 was the first to be investigated because of the nature of his criminal history and because he drove a blue car.
