Gladstone reflects as city says goodbye to Cyril Golding
TODAY Gladstone bids farewell to local identity Cyril Golding.
He was called Mr Gladstone for a reason.
Mr Golding's passion for our town was second to none.
He was a successful businessman but he was also a generous philanthropist and benefactor to countless causes.
Mr Golding gave continuously but he did it quietly and without any need for recognition. He was humble.
He died in the early hours on Sunday, November 4, aged 92.
The service will begin at 10am at St Saviours Anglican Church in Auckland St, and will be followed by interment at the Old Gladstone Cemetery, Dawson Hwy.
St Saviour's doors will be open from 9am, and car parking will be available on the Central School oval.
The service is being conducted by Gladstone Valley Funerals.
The family has asked that donations be made to Gladstone State High School Technical College in lieu of flowers.
The Observer online will provide full coverage of Mr Golding's funeral today.
