Gladstone man has close call with tax scam

GLADSTONE resident Bernie Simpson is lucky he didn't have his bank account cleaned out this week.

Mr Simpson received a telephone message on his voicemail advising him to contact the tax office immediately as the office was about to launch legal proceedings against him.

He contacted the tax office through its regular phone number and was advised that his tax affairs were all in order.
