Gladstone man charged after drugs were found on car floor

WEDNESDAY 4PM:  A MAN was charged with major drug possession after police located a large amount of crystal substances, suspected to be methylamphetamine, in his car during a routine breath test on Tuesday night.

Paul Charles Gillbanks was remanded in custody, after no bail application was lodged, and will reappear via videolink in Gladstone Magistrates Court on May 26.

WEDNESDAY 7AM: A MAN has been charged following a traffic incident in Gladstone on Tuesday night that led to a quantity of drugs being found.

At about 10.45pm on Tuesday police officers intercepted the man on Beak St for the purpose of a random breath test.

Police will allege that during the stop, a quantity of drugs was located on the car floor.

About 15g of crystal substance was found in one bag and another 9g of crystal substance was found in a separate bag.

About 32g of cannabis was also located.

A 39-year-old New Auckland man was arrested and charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence.

He is currently in Gladstone Watchhouse and due to appear before the Gladstone Magistrates Court today.
