Gladstone man arrested after damaging a Mackay business

PUBLIC assistance has again contributed towards identifying and arresting an offender for wilful and unlawful damage in Mackay.

A 21-year old-man from Gladstone has been arrested by Mackay police after it is alleged that members of the public witnessed the man punch the front window of a business causing it to smash.

Upon realising that he had been seen, the man ran from the area on foot.

Police were contacted and attended promptly. With the assistance of the Mackay Police Dog Squad and mobile units, the offender was tracked and located.

He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on November 6.

Police are thankful for the assistance from members of the community in this instance.

"We continue to urge any member of the public who may witness any suspicious behaviour to report the matter as soon as possible," a police spokesperson said.
