Gladstone magistrate tells off 'idiot' public nuisance

A MAN who called a police officer a "rookie" and told him to "do some real police work" appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday on one charge of public nuisance.

Anton Jeffrey Gilbert pleaded guilty to the incident which took place on February 3.

When sentencing Gilbert, Magistrate Russell Warfield brought home the irony of the incident.

"If police didn't have to deal with idiots like you, they could get out and do some real police work," he told the defendant.
