Gladstone league rivals prepare to battle for third spot

THE battle for third position on the Gladstone rugby league ladder is set to excite fans from Valleys and Brothers this weekend, with the two teams taking to Marley Brown Oval on Saturday.

Their last encounter was a closely contested affair, with the Brothers winning 18-6.

"We had seven out last time, and this time we have closer to a full side," Valleys president Keiran Lawler said.

Valleys were able to score a decisive victory against Wallabys before the long weekend break, winning 30-12.

The Brothers are also in-form, piling on the points against Tannum to win convincingly, 42-6.

"They are an improving side, much better than when we beat them at the start of the season," Lawler said.

Lawler is confident about taking a hold on the third spot in the competition with a victory, and is hoping his side will continue the form they showed before the break.

"The week off was probably not real good. It would have been great to get on a roll, but they are all keen to get back out there," he said.
