Ladies get chance to feel the heat

GLADSTONE ladies are in for a treat this Saturday when Ian Shuker makes an appearance at Stockland.

Rockhampton fire-fighter Ian is the cover boy of next year’s 2011 fire-fighters calendar.

Ian will be at Stockland this Saturday between 9am and 2pm to sign calendars.

"This is my fifth calendar and I think I’m going to make it my last one as there is plenty of other up-and-coming young firies who would love to have a turn," Ian said.

"I have been Mr July for the last four years, but this year I’m on the front cover."

"Normally I pose with a big smile but this year I have a more solemn look while holding on to a fire hose."

The 28-year-old has worked as a fire-fighter in Rockhampton for six years.

To keep fit, Ian works out three to four times a week and also plays touch football.

"I don’t do traditional weights as such, I do a lot of functional work with kettlebells but when I do normal gym work my highest weight for one repetition was 170kg," Ian said.

But what will make the Gladstone ladies happy is the fact that Ian is very single.

"I like ladies with a good sense of humour who are upbeat and prefer not to hang around people that like to complain about everything," he said.

When Ian is not posing for calendars or fighting fires, he enjoys hanging out with friends and going to the beach.

"Posing for calendars is pretty time consuming, it’s not really the actual shoot, it was over in about 15 minutes," he said.

All funds raised from the sale of the calendars will go towards the burns unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.

"There have always been good sales in Gladstone whenever we come down here so I hope this year will be the same," Ian said.

"I will try to sell as many calendars as I can on Saturday."
