Gladstone kids get crafty, cuddle up to teddies at events

GLADSTONE kids got crafty at events around the region on Wednesday.

Community Arts on Goondoon offered kids a chance to create a sculptured scene inside an empty CD case using plasticine.

At the Calliope and the Agnes Water libraries, kids got to make Christmas cards, gift bags and baubles, and Curly Lou visited and made balloon sculptures for the young ones.

It was card-making and scrapbooking galore at Scrapbook Fantasies, where kids made Christmas cards and scrapbooking pages as Christmas presents.

PCYC members journeyed to the marina with their teddy bears for a teddy bears picnic; they also played with a colourful parachute.

There are more events to come during the school holidays.

For kids keen on craft, Bunnings is running a DIY Christmas tree workshop and Scrapbook Fantasies is running more classes.

Families can also venture to markets: the Miriam Vale Lions, Markets in the Park, Cedar Galleries Farmers and Discovery Coast markets are all on this weekend.

Break shapes up for fun

HARRISON Suter has been enjoying his summer holidays so far.

On Wednesday he attended the CD Plasti-scene workshop at Community Arts on Goondoon; he learnt how to manipulate plasticine into a CD case to appear like a landscape painting.

Harrison enjoyed the workshop and plans to go to other ones around Gladstone during his holiday break.

Spending time with his grandparents and playing with Lego have been Harrison's highlight of his holidays so far: "I've been having sleepovers with Grandma and I've been playing with Lego; it's been really fun," he said.

Harrison is going to spend Christmas with his family in Gladstone and is excited for other activities in the break.
