Impressive results for PCYC Irish dancers in Mackay

GLADSTONE PCYC Irish dancers returned from this year's Mackay Eisteddfod with impressive results.

Volunteer dance instructors Kylie Ware and Shelley Penrose are thrilled with their dancers' results at the October 20 event, saying they could not be any more proud.

The pair are grateful to Colette Shields of Claddagh School of Irish Dance in Mackay for registering and mentoring their dancers.

Young dancers

  • First-time competitor Cadence Ware, 5, received 2nd Novice Reel and 3rd Beginner Reel.
  • Piper McDade, 8, received 1st (graded) Beginner Single Jig, 1st (graded) Primary Reel, 2nd Primary St Patricks Day, 2nd Intermediate Slip Jig, and Very Highly Commended for Intermediate Reel. Piper also placed 3rd in the Under 11 Two Hand with Abbie Quinn her fellow dancer with Claddagh School of Irish Dance.

    Amber Brennan, 9, received 1st (graded) Beginner Single Jig, and Highly Commended for Beginner Light Jig.
  • Kasi Richardson, 9, received 3rd Beginner Reel, Highly Commended for Beginner Treble Jig, and Highly Commended for Primary Reel.
  • Another first-time competitor Jenai Taylor, 9, received 1st Novice Reel, 1st Beginner Reel, 1st (graded) Beginner Light Jig, 2nd Beginner Single Jig, 3rd Beginner Treble Jig, Very Highly Commended for Primary Reel, and Highly Commended for Beginner Slip Jig.
  • Olivia Tudman, 9, received 1st (graded) Intermediate Reel, 1st (graded) Primary St Patricks Day, 2nd Beginner Light Jig, 2nd Primary Treble Jig, 2nd Primary Hornpipe, Highly Commended for Intermediate Slip Jig, and Highly Commended for Intermediate Treble Jig.

  • Erin Murphy, 12, received 1st (graded) Beginner Treble Jig, 1st Primary Reel, 1st (graded) Beginner Slip Jig, 1st Primary Slip Jig, 2nd Beginner Reel, 2nd Beginner Single Jig, and Highly Commended for Primary St Patricks Day.
  • Sunni Dearden, 16, received 1st Beginner Treble Jig, 2nd Primary Treble Jig, 3rd Beginner Light Jig, 3rd Primary Slip Jig, Highly Commended for Primary Reel, and Highly Commended for Primary Hornpipe.

  • Katrina Murphy received 3rd Beginner Single Jig, 3rd Beginner Slip Jig, Highly Commended for Beginner Reel, and Highly Commended for Primary Reel.
  • Kylie Ware received 1st (graded) Intermediate Treble Jig, 2nd Intermediate Reel, 3rd Primary Hornpipe, and Highly Commended for Intermediate Blackbird.
