$21K fund hit for Gladstone hospital
GLADSTONE Hospital has new equipment, thanks to Gladstone Hospital Auxiliary.
A new laser-therapy unit is the first of up to $21,000 of equipment the auxiliary group has ordered for the hospital.
Included is $8000 towards the operating theatre and a new treadmill for the community health rehabilitation sector.
The auxiliary ladies presented the laser to Gladstone Hospital occupation therapist Robyn McMillan last Thursday.
Member Jenny McLeod said the laser, a "great new healing tool" would be used to reduce scarring, "(especially in) patients who have had cancer and (it's) helpful with breaking up fibrous tissue in the breast".
GHA is a not-for-profit association that raises funds to buy much-needed equipment for the hospital.
The group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month and welcomes new members.
