Gladstone City Eisteddfod event program hot off the press

THE Gladstone City Eisteddfod office was overflowing with papers this week as organisers prepared for the release of the 2017 event program.

Preparations are in full swing as the eisteddfod committee prepares for the biggest year yet.

The 49th Gladstone City Eisteddfod has attracted the largest number of dance competitors in the event's history with more than 100 young dancers from Gladstone, Mackay, Bundaberg, Biloela and Rockhampton entered.

Gladstone City Eisteddfod secretary Pauline Newman said there was plenty of behind-the-scenes work ahead of the program release.

"The fact that we're growing in numbers is great,” Ms Newman said.

"This has taken our program manager at least four weeks.

"The syllabus starts back in February, organising the Gladstone City Eisteddfod is almost a year-long process.”

The program stocked at stores yesterday and will be available until the competition starts later this year.

It's available for $10 at Judith Cooper Optometrist, Sun Valley Spar Express, Clinton Newsagency, The Health Nut, Allegro Music and Dance Wear, Calliope Rural Traders and Boyne Tannum Discount Drug Store.
