Girl Friday taking on UGLY bartender challenge for charity
GLADSTONE bartender Kaitey Beard sure ain't ugly.
But she's taking up the UGLY (Understanding, Generous, Likeable, You) bartender of the year challenge in the name of raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
"One of the family friend's son (2) was diagnosed with leukaemia last year," Kaitey said.
"(UGLY) is just a good way of raising money."
The 22-year-old has a positive outlook on life, enjoying the simple pleasures of Gladstone.
"I really like the landscape (here)," she said.
"I love the fact that of an afternoon, you can walk down the main street, you can watch the sun setting over the islands."
She takes pride in her job and loves getting to know her customers.
"Everyone has a different story, that's what I love about bartending," she said.
"I'm a big believer that a smile is contagious."
