Gladdie digs deep

THERE were speeches and the customary sod turning yesterday, as the Peet Gladstone Charity House at Vantage Estate was officially launched.

The project is one of Gladstone's biggest fundraising efforts, the idea conceived by local Leanne Buchholz.

It has turned out to be a show of selflessness and Ms Buchholz said no one yet has said no.

"If we did need to make that phone call because we were missing something, we just had to make one call and every single person said yes straight up. Gladstone is that type of community."

Organisers hope to raise $250,000 at auction, to donate to four local charities.
