'Girls only' for Cougar Tours
APPROACHING the big 40, Michelle Stafford started to assess her life and what was most important in it.
On top of the list was friends and family and with a tinge of regret Ms Stafford realised she didn’t spend as much time with her cherished girlfriends as she did when she was in her 20s.
She discussed this with one of her best friends, Carly Quinn, and together they thought up a brilliant solution to this problem and so Cougar Tours was born.
Cougar Tours designs fully hosted travel experiences for groups of women.
Short, domestic trips for women to reconnect with their friends and just have a great time.
“We just wanted to create a unique experience where women could get together with their girlfriends, or even make new friends,” Ms Stafford said.
Leave all your preconceptions of cougars at the door as Cougar Tours is not about looking for men but about women taking time out to spend quality time with their girlfriends.
“We chose the name to take back the cougar as a strong independent woman,” Ms Stafford explained.
Their first planned get away will run at the beginning of November and is a four-day trip to Melbourne to for wining, dining, shopping and pampering.
Expressions of interest are also being taken for the girl’s planned trips for 2011, including a trip to Brisbane to see Wicked and a “Cougars in the kitchen” tour through the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
“It’s about that work-life balance and getting out and seeing the world,” Ms Stafford said.
“Pick up the phone and ring up your girlfriends or your mum and say lets do something special together and let’s have some fun.”
