Girls heading for hockey finals
THE Chanel College hockey team has made the final four in Queensland and will participate in the NAB Schools Cup finals in Townsville this weekend.
Chanel College sports co-ordinator Dave Capra said that the girls' side all play hockey at local club level and are strongly dedicated to their four hours a week training on top of their other varied commitments. He said they were a credit to their coach Stewart Rach.
The Chanel College Team comprises students from Years 9 to 12 and over this past year has become a tight unit.
Given the team has the disadvantage of not playing or training on turf, its achievement of being in the final four teams to compete at a state level is truly a testament to each member's hard work and dedication on and off the field.
The team arrives in Townsville tonight, before starting training tomorrow to assist with acclimatisation in Townsville.
The three other teams competing are Moreton Bay College, Kirwan State High School Townsville and Clayfield College Brisbane.
The trip to the hockey final has been made possible by the generous support of local businesses, particularly UGL Resources.
