ASN is getting Gladstone revved up to help foster children
A MOTORBIKE valued at more than $15,000 will make a huge difference to the lives of foster children in Gladstone.
Australian Sports Nutrition Gladstone is selling raffle tickets at $80 each to be in the running for a 2014 model Harley- Davidson motorbike, with all profits going towards the Pyjama Foundation Gladstone.
Store part-owner Joel Ibbotson said the company decided to raise money for a worthwhile charity towards the end of last year.
"We wanted to give back to the local community, because that is who keeps our business going, and we thought it would be nice to show our appreciation of that by giving back to a needy cause," Mr Ibbotson said.
"A friend recommended looking into the Pyjama Foundation because it was a great charity operating in Gladstone."
The bike was purchased locally from Harbour City Harley-Davidson Gladstone for $15,495, which also comes with $500 worth of apparel and a current registration.
"There will be 250 tickets sold, so the chances of winning are quite high," he said.
Raffle tickets are currently available at the store, and will remain available until they sell out or until February 27 before being drawn on February 28.
"It's (The Pyjama Foundation is) a great local charity helping out children who need support from the public.
"There's also a pretty good chance you can win a nice bike.
"With the help of the Gladstone Harbour City Harvey-Davidson's store and assistance of the Pyjama Foundation, they have made it be able to run nice and smoothly."

50 children in need of angels
THE Pyjama Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve the literacy of foster children in Queensland and New South Wales.
Foster children are visited by their Pyjama Angel, who reads their favourite books to them and spends some quality time with them.
Gladstone co-ordinator Lyn Hughes said that the donation could not have come at a better time for the foundation.
"We are so lucky there are people like this who are so enthusiastic about supporting the Pyjama Foundation and helping foster children in Gladstone.
"This could open the door to volunteers from a whole new part of our community," she said.
She said the money would towards continuing the great work performed by the Pyjama Foundation in Gladstone in helping to improve the literacy levels of foster children in the area.
This month she will be putting 10 new Pyjama Angels through their paces, but the foundation is still in need of more volunteer angels.
"We have a further 50 children who need angels," she explained.
Pyjama Angels spend one hour a week with their partnered child.
