George Michael: Autopsy reveals how he really died

THE body of legendary British pop star George Michael will finally be put to rest with an autopsy confirming he died of natural causes.

The 53-year-old was found dead at his home in Goring-on-Thames on Christmas Day.

Oxfordshire's senior coroner Darren Salter, who investigated the singer's death, said Michael died when his heart and kidney failed.

"As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries.

"No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy."

Dilated cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the heart grows in size and struggles to pump blood.

The singer's family have endured an agonising wait for his body while toxicology reports were being finalised. The coroner did not report any trace of drugs.

Michael's body was discovered by his Australian lover Fadi Fawaz, 43, who phoned emergency services.

Fawaz tweeted "F**k you" shortly after the coroner's statement was released followed by a photo of him and Michael with the caption "the truth is out."

The Australian also tweeted that, "All the nasty comments, press and 999 were very cruel and unnecessary whatsoever, Now I hope to receive some real LOVE x."

Despite rumours drugs played a factor in the death Fawaz has always maintained his belief that the singer's body simply failed.

The pair met in 2009, shortly after Michael's breakup with long-term boyfriend Kenny Goss.

George Michael’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz (with Michael in Sydney in 2010) called barbs aimed at him “cruel and unneccessary.”

It has been reported that Fawaz played a part in Michael's Switzerland rehab stint but the Australian has since fallen out with the singer's family.

A public funeral is expected to be held later this month while a second more intimate event will be held for family and close friends.

The superstar singer died on Christmas Day aged 53, at his Oxfordshire home.

Investigations into his death had delayed his family's funeral plans.

An early post-mortem has come back as "inconclusive" with police saying his death was "unexplained but not suspicious".

Michael's ex-boyfriend Kenny Goss claimed the singer's body had just "given up".

Kenny Goss, George's partner of 15 years, revealed he flew to the UK from Texas to comfort the singer's family.
Kenny, 58, said: "I think his body just gave up. All these years, it was just weak."
