Gaza ceasefire continues despite near-breakdown of talks

THE Israeli air strikes on the Gaza strip continued as ceasefire talks hosted by Egypt all but broke down over the weekend.

Talks in Egypt over a renewed ceasefire were dampened by rocket fire by both Israeli and Palestinian militants, with two more fired on Sunday.

A brief ceasefire at the end of last week ended when Gaza militants fired back at Israel, with Hamas responding with a volley of fire killing three children and two adults, local agencies reported.
