GAPDL top job goes to board member Darryl Branthwaite

GLADSTONE Area Promotion and Development Ltd has appointed long-time board member Darryl Branthwaite to the position of CEO.

Mr Branthwaite replaces Glenn Churchill, who left the position at the end of July.

GAPDL chair Leigh Zimmerlie said Mr Branthwaite's long involvement with the organisation and his passion for the Gladstione region meant he would be a true asset to the organisation.

Mr Branthwaite has been a GAPDL board member for 23 years and said he is looking forward to the new challenge.

"I am very proud of the Gladstone region and of GAPDL," he said.

"I've been spruiking the region for many years - the role is something I've always weanted to do."

He will take up his new position in September.

Mr Branthwaite has been heavily involved in the community, starting back in the 1990s with the Chamber of Commerce and playing a part in the creation of the Boyne Tannum HookUp.

He operated his own successful business at the Caltex Boyne River Truck stop, with his wife Jenny and family, for 22 years.

He has received many awards including the prestigious Terry George Memorial Award for Community Leadership.
