GALLERY: Firefighters, helicopters battle to save homes

FIREFIGHTERS are working hard to contain a blaze threatening properties at Rosenthal Heights.

Witness Max Ruthnell said the fire started after a car blew a tyre on the New England Highway and fast spread east across the grassland.

Helicopters have worked fast to water bomb the area, dramatically slowing the spread of the fire.
