A NEW childcare centre due to open its doors at Riverstone Rise next week was celebrated on Saturday with a community open day.

Riverstone Rise Early Learning Journey will cater for infants from six-weeks-old and children up to five years old.

The centre will be open from 6am to 6pm.

The event on Saturday featured face painting, jumping castles, an animal farm, bubble and popcorn machines and a visit from everyone's favourite pink pig.

"Our new purpose-built centre has been developed to ensure children feel safe, secure and supported all the while promoting a sense of self-confidence and an enthusiasm for learning," said Riverstone Rise's Chrissie Owens.

The centre is at 6 Corimba Pde, Boyne Island.
