Free clothes for homeless starts in Melbourne

THE first pop up Street Store to help provide clothes to the homeless has been run in Melbourne.

The free Street Store at Federation Square provided clothes and humanise the city's homeless.

The store has been filled with donated well-cared for and washed clothes so those living on the streets could choose what they wanted to wear.

Organisers urged people to find clothes they did not wear to bring to the Street Store for the homeless - who may not have a choice in what they wear.

While it was an Australian first the Street Stores have become a global phenomenon starting in Cape Town earlier this year.
