LISTEN: Girlfriend learns of boyfriends Kirkwood Rd crash
A MUM received screaming calls from her daughter this morning who'd just learnt her boyfriend had been in a car crash.
Susan Fleetwood said her daughter Sarah was at work when she received the worrying news her boyfriend Kieren Myers was involved in the four car crash on Kirkwood Rd.
Cars were banked up past the roundabout as emergency crews cleared the mess off the road.
Susan said her hands were still shaking after the incident.
"He didn't want to go to hospital. And I said, "Oh, yes, you are," she said.
She said he was still evidently "shook up" from the incident, as she understood "he wore the brunt of the impact".
Police have said they are still investigating the crash.
She said she felt a wave of relief came when she arrived to find he wasn't hurt.
Susan said the Ute was Mr Myers' "baby" and he would be devastated "that there's no way they are going to be able to fix that".
FOUR cars have crashed on Kirkwood Rd close to the Woolworths Shopping Centre.
Queensland Ambulance responded to reports of the crash just after 7am.
Initial reports show a damaged 4WD with its front right wheel bent under itself and a blue coloured ute smashed up on the side of the road.
The driver of the ute has been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
It's understood he was driving to TAFE at the time.
The girlfriend of the driver, Sarah Fleetwood, found out her boyfriend was involved in the crash from colleagues who work at McDonalds.
The vehicle has been towed from the scene and traffic is flowing however drivers are urged to slow down.
